Louis Braille was born in France in 1809. His father was a shoemaker who made shoes and other things from leather. When Louis was small, he liked to help his father make shoes. One day, when Louis was cutting some leather, he suddenly slipped the knife which hit him in his eyes. He soon became completely blind.
